During the COVID pandemic, Virginia saw a level of tyranny that was astounding.
Governor Northam acted with total disregard for the law and trampled God-given rights. He closed churches, businesses, and schools.
Following Northam’s lead, many businesses and universities were no better, attempting to force people to vaccinate, wear masks, and stay home, with a few exceptions.

As I ask for the privilege of continuing my service in the General Assembly as Senator from the 1st Senate District, I want you to know how hard we work to make sure people are treated fairly and government honors our rights.
And if people and businesses are mistreated, you can be sure I’ll work to amplify their voices and demand justice.
The Federalist Recognizes Dave LaRock Standing up for Religious Freedom
The Federalist: Virginia AG Probes Mounting Religious Discrimination Cases After Hospital Revoked Covid Jab Exemptions
When nurses were being fired for exercising their choice to rely on natural immunity to Covid and not be vaccinated, some hospitals decided to regard last year’s heroes as disposable.
From The Federalist:
|
Del. Dave LaRock addressed Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s office in a letter last spring citing widespread discrimination against constituents choosing a religious exemption to the Covid-19 vaccine. Investigating the issue further, LaRock found that Inova health care workers who had been terminated for refusing the vaccine had not been offered reasonable accommodations, as required by federal law.
“These workers are being threatened with denial of unemployment benefits as employers misrepresent these terminations as voluntary,” LaRock wrote.
“Most, or perhaps all, of these workers who have chosen a religious exemption are being punished and discriminated against for a decision based on deeply held beliefs in direct violation of the protections contained in our Virginia Constitution and various statutes.”
LaRock has documentation that employees fired due to denied religious exemptions may have had unemployment benefits withheld.

“In 2019, Chelsea Sheppard was saving lives and instructing medical students at the University of Virginia (UVA). When the pandemic hit, she would take on extra shifts and follow all the university’s health requirements.
“I worked for two years through the pandemic,” she said. “I worked overtime. I followed all of the rules. I wore masks on campus...”
Del. Dave LaRock has been hearing from health care workers across the commonwealth — dedicated, well-trained, and experienced workers who were lauded as “heroes” during the pandemic and then, like Sheppard, terminated after being denied religious exemptions to the vaccine.
Taxpayer dollars, LaRock noted, are being used to fight against at least one Virginian “wrongfully terminated” after refusing an employer-mandated vaccine for deeply held personal convictions.
