LaRock Announces Progress on 33rd District Transportation Funding Priorities
Hamilton, VA – Delegate Dave LaRock,
re-elected this week to a third term in the Virginia House of Delegates, is pleased
to announce progress towards funding of two 33rd District
transportation projects.
LaRock said, “Working with local government officials and state
leadership, we are making progress. I am pleased that, last night, the Loudoun
County Board of Supervisors promoted the US 15 Congestion Relief project to #1
on their final priority request list for Northern Virginia Transportation
Authority (NVTA) funding. And earlier this week, Virginia’s Deputy Secretary of
Transportation, Nick Donohue, informed me of a VDOT request to the Trump
Administration for $52.9 million in INFRA grant funds for a $185.1M program of
improvements to Interstate 81. I am grateful for the hard work of Senator
Richard Black, Supervisor Geary Higgins and Loudoun County Transportation staff
to move the US 15 Congestion Relief project forward, and to Senator Mark Obenshain,
Delegate Todd Gilbert, and other members of the I-81 legislative caucus for
their teamwork advocating improvements to I-81.”
Delegate LaRock has been listening to the concerns of local residents,
and advocating for these projects with the McAuliffe administration, VDOT and
local elected officials.
“Both of these are requests, not final approval of funding, so I will
continue to serve the people of the 33rd District by working for these
projects to be funded and delivered as soon as possible.” LaRock added.
The NVTA decision on whether to fund the US 15 project should be
finalized in June 2018, and we anticipate U.S. Secretary of Transportation
Elaine Chao will announce the final selection of INFRA awards in the Spring of
2018.
LaRock, a member of the House Transportation Committee, has worked to
reform transportation funding in a way that prioritizes long-overdue
congestion-relief and safety improvements.
