GOP Convention Details and My Picks for Governor, LG, and AG

Dear Friend,

If you registered to be a delegate to the Republican state convention, you will soon be selecting three candidates who will be the Republican team entrusted with the enormous and crucially important task of retaking the positions of Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General.

Information on the convention, candidates & voting procedures here.

How well these candidates’ campaign will heavily influence the outcome of House of Delegate races in a year that we need to pick up at least six seats to retake the majority.

It is with some hesitation that I communicate my preferences. We all form opinions differently. I’m offering to help and mean no disrespect to the opinions of others or the individual candidates.

When choosing a candidate, should we accept promises and forgive and forget what a candidate has done in the past?

I’ve come to respect gun rights advocates. While it seems harsh, one strike on a distinct bad vote or position and you’re out.

Everyone makes mistakes. However, making a mistake on something as simple as defending the explicit prohibition contained in our highest law, the US Constitution, which says of our rights, “…Shall not be infringed”, that misstep defines a person at least for a decade or so and should disqualify them from getting a promotion.

Likewise, a conspicuous bad vote on life says infinitely more than a statement and a claim to be pro-life. I don’t look at what a candidates says to a crowd on the campaign trail, I look at what they did when the temptation was to compromise on principle and sell out quietly.

The first sell out is the hardest, after that it gets easier, or so I‘m told.

My preferences for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General, and a few observations that have influenced my decisions, are below.

Governor- Pete Snyder https://petesnyder.com/

Trustworthy? Can He Win?

Simply put, Pete has convinced some of the most wise and discerning conservatives (Ginny Thomas, Ken Cuccinelli, Morton Blackwell, E.W. Jackson, Ollie North, Vickie Farris, Tina Freitas, Sheriff Scott Jenkins, Senators Mark

Obenshain and Dick Black) of his sincere intentions to lead our Commonwealth out of these dismal times. His track record of helping other conservatives stands out to me.

Having a strong business background helped Donald Trump and will help Pete when he is put in charge of the business of the Commonwealth.

I see in Pete his willingness to listen, really listen. That is what I saw in Donald Trump. Don’t laugh, yes, Donald Trump loves to tweet some edgy stuff, but he also put some very solid people around him, listened to them and kept some important promises. I see Pete doing the same.

Pete is in this to win; heck, he has mastered an important component of modern campaigning, digital media. Pete is a team player that, if chosen, will help Republicans win the LG, AG, and House of Delegates races as well.

Terry McAwful, the diabolical Democrat and his war chest, can only be defeated with a smart, well-funded patriotic pit bull who won’t tap out under pressure. In my opinion, that’s Pete Snyder.

Lieutenant Governor- Winsome Sears https://winsomesears.com/

Trustworthy? Can She Win?

There is no better indicator of what to expect from a person under pressure than how much a person’s actions are guided by their faith.

Going back years now, Winsome and I have had regular text exchanges, usually initiated by Winsome, in which she exhorts me with Scripture to stay strong and true.

Winsome understands the temptations and frustrations of serving in the House of Delegates because she has served in that exact same role.

Winsome immigrated to America surmounting enormous challenges and has thrived. She served as a United States Marine, built and runs a small business; she embodies the American dream.

Winsome ran successfully as a Republican and was the first black Republican woman to be elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.

Winsome lives out her Christian faith, she is smart, passionately patriotic, and driven to win for all the right reasons. If chosen, she will diversify the statewide ticket, something that will benefit us all. I will be voting for Winsome.

Chuck Smith- Attorney General https://chucksmith4ag.com/

Trustworthy? Can He Win?

Of the three statewide offices, the position of Attorney General is the most technically demanding. I want a person who knows and respects existing law and who accepts his job defending our law, not writing it.

Chuck Smith has an impressive resume, including serving in two branches of the military, and is passionate about using his skills to, as Chuck says, “Stop the shredding of the U.S. Constitution, the greatest document written by man. Ensure its provisions are equally enforced at all levels of government.”

Chuck has a long record of engaging

in the Republican Party to help elect other Republicans. The voter guide (below) speaks volumes to his authenticity.

The contrast between Mark Herring (the liberal activist who poses as an AG) and Chuck Smith is beyond description.

Chuck will not disappoint us when he takes over the office of the Virginia Attorney General.
